National Thunder Motorcycle Rally Postponed
Good Morning
After much deliberation, we have decided to postpone the 2020 National Thunder Motorcycle Rally. The Rally was scheduled to be held for four days from Friday 2 October, just over three months away.
Current COVID-19 related legislation prohibits an event like the National Thunder Motorcycle Rally, with transient non seated crowds, from taking place. The rally’s success relies on large groups of people mingling, moving through trade areas, listening to live music and meeting up with mates at bars and food service areas.
In addition to legislative requirements the health and safety of the public has been our key consideration in making this decision. With the current spike in cases in Victoria it is clear that community transmission of the virus continues to be a reality in the wider community and currently outdoor events that do not have seating are too high a risk to be permitted.
The National Thunder Motorcycle Rally will be rescheduled to be held from 1 to 4 October 2021. All tickets sold will remain valid for the 2021 event. If ticket holders are unable to attend in 2021 a full refund will be issued.
This decision to postpone the 2020 event was not taken lightly. We appreciate your enthusiasm for the National Thunder Motorcycle Rally and look forward to welcoming you to Tamworth in October 2021.
What happens next?
I want to attend next year
If you would like to attend the rally next year and have already registered no further action is required at this time.
If you have not registered and would like to attend the 2021 event, registrations will reopen for the event on Monday 13 July with a new registration closing date of Friday 2 July 2021. The registration fee will be unchanged for next year’s event at $149 per person.
I am unsure if I can attend next year
If you have already registered for this year and need some time to determine if you can join us in 2021, there is no need to take action immediately. Registrations for the 2021 rally will remain open until Friday 2 July 2021. Anyone who has registered will have until Friday 9 July 2021 to cancel and receive a full refund. Updated Terms and Conditions with key dates will be available in the rally website (www.nationalthunder.com.au) in the coming days.

The inaugural annual National Thunder Motorcycle Rally will be held across the October Long weekend in 2020. The rally will offer four days of action and camaraderie and will be built around the theme of bikes, music and food. The rally will include all motorcycle manufacturers’ brands, catering for individual riders, club members and organised groups.
This national event is expected to draw several thousand bikes to Tamworth and will feature live music with local and national bands, specialised equine activities, dozens of vendors and much, much more.
It is our goal to collaborate with a diverse range of manufacturers and organisations that share a passion for motorcycling to create a unique event that celebrates the motorcycle lifestyle.
